Relationship Advice - The One Sure Fire Way to Measure the Health of Your Relationship

Relationships, especially long term relationships, can be such an emotional challenge. In the midst of all the good stuff, and there is lots of good stuff, the bottom line is that living with another person is just plain messy.

Having said that, I’m always amused by the all the women’s and relationship magazines that come out with these various tests on how to measure the health of your relationship.

Guys hate that kind of stuff, you know. Because even if you get them all right, there is going to be some kind of discussion that begins with the words “What did you mean by that?”

The best measuring tool

I’m sure all the people that come up with those tests are wonderful folks that mean well. But the tests are really unnecessary.

I’m about to give you one test, that never fails, and will tell you the exact state of any relationship. And it does not even require paper and pencil. There is just one question to answer.

Here it is - How do you react to the “coming home sound” of your partner?

That’s all there is too it. Give me the honest answer to that question, and I can pretty much tell you all you need to know about your relationship.

Whether it is the key it the lock, the door knob being turned, or the garage door opening, if you react with anticipation and delight, you are telling me one thing. If you react with an unpleasant sigh or even feelings of dread, you are telling me quite another thing indeed.
